SAP Note Viewer for iPhone

Well, its been an interesting few months with the XCode platform and learning Objective C was interesting, but I am glad to announce my side project has been released and is available in the Apple App Store. The free app is called SAP Note Viewer for iPhone and is just that … a SAP OSS Note viewer which allows people to search for and download the notes and store them on their iPhone/iPad in PDF format.

The app also allows you to share the note details via email and mark specific notes as “Favorites” for easy reference.

Since this is Version 1, my intention is to simply get the ball rolling and hope for some feedback from the community to get some ideas on where it should go and what functionality everyone would like to see. read more

2011 SAP Demojam Ideas

These were my SAP TechEd (which includes Demojam) ideas for 2011:

  • iPad app which uses its indoor location and mapping, uses the camera and an augmented reality overlay to tag items inside a warehouse with live tags based on a picklist. As each item is marked as picked, the next line item shows up using a “radar” style map and informs the warehouse driver where they should navigate next.
    • Develop it using multiple cheap wifi routers? using signal strength? and a mesh like network
SAP ERP integration with a Segway for material handling. Show camera on front showing an augmented view of the warehouse with a 3D overlay.

DIY: IGUS Slider for Timelapse and Long Exposure Photography

This was a fun project using a Arduino, a sliding rail and belt to pull a sled with a DSLR on it for taking long exposure photography, video or long exposures. This was mounted on a Tripod for some additional stability and flexibility.

Overview:

A highlevel view of why companies should build their infratructure around ESA and what the future holds for SAP 2.0

Page 1: Examples of open arcitechure (Facebook, twitter, XML, EDI, FTP, SAP forums etc.)

               – Heard this morning about computing in the cloud, just one aspect of Web 2.0

               – Web 2.0 is not tangible but rather a openess of communications, systems and people, people willing to share

Page 2: What is SAP SOA, what are the fundamentals been around a good few years, but have not come across many people who say, you know what we have a 10 year plan to go down this road using this set of specifications or servers and this SAP system. That is the great thing about building a SOA environment, is that it doesnt really matter whats on either end of the telephone or even what language they are speaking in, its in a way heterogenous. read more

Web App: Project 9

This was a fun small side project inspired by the Microsoft POC and a mashup between Facebook, social media feeds and events. I had a vision that event attendees and fans could collaborate and share media, news and happenings directly at and during a live event.

This was one of my first code based implementation of a “live” timeline. The app was PHP based with a mySQL DB, the UI was all custom designed and coded.

Web App: Momz.co.za

Shortly before Charlotte being born, I recognized that there were quite a few US websites focused on support moms going through their journey of pregnancy, and the early years of of raising kids. Trying to emulate this for the South African market and emerging internet base, I built momz.co.za.

The page title was “Helping South African Moms with pregnancy, recipes, food, forums, safety and kids”

Technology

Technology wise the product was built using the community platform Dolphin, from Boonex. It is a great product and had multiple social media aspects available out of the box along with features like forums, blogs, groups and news, which was perfect for launching this community. read more
