As a huge believer and consumer of open source software, tools or frameworks, I have enjoyed giving back to the community through a variety of projects.

Photo Mosaics
I handmade (drag and dropped!) a couple hundred photos to make this photo mosaic for Kate in 2004. The photos were from a CR ROM Stock Photography company (Photodisc). I made a couple more but no longer have the files 🙁

Bennetts IT Solutions – Tech Competition

My competitive nature early on during my studies at Port Elizabeth Technikon, in the pre-“hackathon” days where companies would put up a memo at your local university asking to get a challenge done 🙂 Myself and one other student won some $$$ analyzing and suggesting improvements for a local website.
This competition led to me getting a part-time job with company as a software developer.

List: Trips, Holidays and Travel
A draft list of various travel I have taken for work and fun throughout my life. This has been quite difficult for my early years without any list, but photographs often help.
List: Motocross Bikes
A list of motorcycles I have owned over the years.
First Digital Photo
This was the first digital photo I ever took. It was driving from East London to Bloemfontein for a motocross national. I had borrowed it from my boss. It was around 2000.

Work Project: Maintenance App
Company: LuxDev
Time: 1999 – 2000
Project: A desktop application with the inventory and assets of each room in the Butterworth Hospital. Manage resources, time, materials, for their team. Written in VB.Net, and had an MS Access Database. I spent the year driving to Butterworth and inventorying room size, door sizes, components, etc. and then cataloging it in the DB. This was a wonderful jumpstart for me, I was still studying, working on the side and making a solid income, while gaining valuable software development experience.
