Travel: Bay Area & Lake Tahoe

A short weekend away with Kitty in the Bay Area after spending the week there for work.

A short visit on the way to the airport to visit Apple and my second time going to the computer history museum. That place really gives me nostalgic vibes from my childhood.

Travel: Walldorf & Heidelberg Germany

Work trip to Germany over 10 days. Was super busy work wise with a leadership offsite, team members visiting from Bulgaria and meeting and making new friends. Was one of my more memorable visits to the SAP HQ 🙂

Over the weekend I spent some time training in Heidelberg for the upcoming 70.3 Ironman Chattanooga Race. The “City Bad” (City Pool) was chaotic to train in, but also pretty fun versus my local YMCA 🙂 Sunday I did a big strength session, running to the top of Thingstätte, down across the river and back up the other side to Königstuhl. After walking down the 300 odd stairs last year, I really wanted to run up them, so this was the perfect opportunity. read more

Travel: Roth, Walldorf, Heidelberg, Munich

Due to a last minute work trip to SAP in Walldorf, some odd flights to Munich afforded me some time on either end of the travel for a few personal events to enjoy. (I generally fly to Frankfurt as it’s much closer).

A few days before the trip I noticed a famous full distance triathlon was going on in Roth, Germany, so on my drive from Munich to Roth, I made a short stop to watch.

During the work week I spent time running in a small forest area next to the office, we had a great event in Heidelberg and hiked from the top down. I also spent some time lap swimming in Walldorf, and also did a trail run along philosophers walk before heading back to Munich. read more

Work Project: Maintenance App

Company: LuxDev
Time: 1999 – 2000
Project: A desktop application with the inventory and assets of each room in the Butterworth Hospital. Manage resources, time, materials, for their team. Written in VB.Net, and had an MS Access Database. I spent the year driving to Butterworth and inventorying room size, door sizes, components, etc. and then cataloging it in the DB. This was a wonderful jumpstart for me, I was still studying, working on the side and making a solid income, while gaining valuable software development experience.
