Cobb Galleria and some awesome trails for running and riding in the area.

A short trip to Washington, DC with my mom and Charlotte. We hit some of the more popular spots and also made our way to a few neighborhoods off the beaten path.
Library of Congress, Capitol Hill, Lunch in the House of Representatives, Botanical Gardens, National Art Museum, Union Market, White House, Mall, Georgetown, Dumbarten Oaks Gardens, The Wharf, National Postal Museum, Union Station, Blagden Alley Murals (bad choice), Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam Memorial. I also did a little easy run early Saturday morning around the mall area across to Arlington Cemetery and along the river. Probably one of the most enjoyable runs I have ever had “in the city”.
Another Ironman 70.3 race under my belt and my best overall finish to date! It was slightly disappointing that the swim was cancelled due to strong currents, but if its the same for everyone, that works for me 🙂
The race venue, people and weather were perfect. Aside from my very first 70.3 in Augusta, I think this has been my favorite. This was probably influenced by some personal bests on all fronts, however, with not having a swim, I think that could have been expected to a small extent.
The weekend started by taking a beautiful drive up to Chattanooga through the mountains on Thursday, I left early so I could get work in once I arrived and avoid some traffic. The drive alone is worth the trip, along the beautiful Nantahala river through towns like Asheville and Bryson City.
Wonderful spring break trip to Seaside Beach, Florida. It is a quaint little town which was originally developed in 1981. The first building was the post office (pictured below) and subsequently the property around it was slowly developed. The extended development of Seaside, Watercolor and Santa Rosa beach is further protected from expansion thanks to large state park surrounding it called, Point Washington.
Here is a nice story on how the town developed: https://sowal.com/story/the-story-of-seaside-florida

A quick visit to Independence Hall and Liberty Bell with Ella during a tournament in Philly and snapped this memorable quote.
“If men were angels, no government would be necessary,” comes from James Madison’s Federalist No. 51, published in 1788, and it explains why government is needed: because humans aren’t perfect, we need structures to control the governed and to control the government itself.
A long weekend trip with Ella to Philly for the North Easy Qualifier Volleyball Tournament. Not much sightseeing due to bad weather, but we made the most of it. Some of the trip highlights included a visit to Love Park, the Liberty Bell, Redding Terminal Market and Geno’s.

Big South volleyball with Charlotte and Ella. A hectic weekend with both of them participating. We stayed in the Hilton about 15 minutes walk to the Georgia World Convention Center.

A long weekend visit with Ella to Kansas City for the 2025 NIT Women’s Volleyball Championship 🙂

One of my favorite matches of Ella:
Work trip to Germany over 10 days. Was super busy work wise with a leadership offsite, team members visiting from Bulgaria and meeting and making new friends. Was one of my more memorable visits to the SAP HQ 🙂
Over the weekend I spent some time training in Heidelberg for the upcoming 70.3 Ironman Chattanooga Race. The “City Bad” (City Pool) was chaotic to train in, but also pretty fun versus my local YMCA 🙂 Sunday I did a big strength session, running to the top of Thingstätte, down across the river and back up the other side to Königstuhl. After walking down the 300 odd stairs last year, I really wanted to run up them, so this was the perfect opportunity.
